Spice - KAYSER par VSGREG - 1484 lectures

Hi Spice, so what's new on the Kayser camp since the release of the first incredbile "Kaiserhof" ?
One year older and new blood in the band. We have got two new mebers. Jokke replaced Fredrik in september last year. And at last, we have a permanent bass player. Ewil Sandin stepped into the band in august this year.

The first album was very well received worldwide. Was it a big surprise for you ?
No... I hardly ever get suprised, by anything. I belived in the record. And that´s enough for me. It´s really just a bonus if someone else appreciate it to.

Kayser didn't tour to defend "Kaiserhof", Why ? What did you do all this time ? Did you work on other musical project ?
Our record company fucked up a great tour opportunity last fall. And we turned down a couple ourself that was n´t that good. So we wrote this record instead.

Let's talk about the EP "Good citizen", what is your idea to release such an EP a few months before the new album ?
I was against this ep. I can´t see the point of it. Other than that it gave us a little more time in the studio. It had made sence if it was to be released between albums, not as now...2 month before the real album. We knew that we where going to have 12 songs on the album. But when this ep-thing was decided, we added the song Propaganda. A song that was on our second demo. We just changed small bits in the arangement and recorded it again.

What are the main differences between your new album and the previous one ?
We had a strategy for this album, just as we had for Kaiserhof. With this one...we opened up some more doors. We did´nt want to do a Kaiserhof 2. If Kaiserhof was a chili stew... ''Frame The World...Hang It On The Wall'' is a full course dinner with dessert. We wanted to allow more colours into the songs. To bring in other styles of music…The foundation is metal. We just added the songs with different flavours. Music should´nt be framed...black and white. I don´t like just one or two types of music.

There is a track I don't really like on the new release, it 's "Absence". What is the idea behind this song ? propose something new and different ?
Uoops...! You are the first one to say that you don´t enjoy the song. It´s ok. Just in order of the universe. Absence is a song I wrote a long time ago. I wrote it between 1991-92 and recorded it early 93 on a demo with the band I had before Spiritual Beggars. Me and Swaney updated the song a bit.The lyrics are very dark... but honest. It tells where I was at that time and the years that followed. There´s still parts in the lyrics that I can relate to today.

Apart from the track, "Frame the World...Put It on The wall" is once again a great album ! What are your objectives with this new release, will you tour now ?
We will Tour. And it looks like France is on the route.

What is the meaning of the title of this new cd "Frame the World...hang It on The wall" ?
For me... I see the title like a flatscreen Tv. Ordinary people watching the news, safe and secured in their livingroom. Most people want to put frames on everything in life. Also... I see all these greedy men. Hunters. That see actions of force (war or whatever) in the world like trophys. Something to hang on the wall. "Look what I achieved."

Kayser is a strong band name, did you faced any problem regarding the name of your band ? Are you still happy with this choice ?
No we have not faced any problems. Why should we? Do you have anything against our name?

Let's talk about your lyrics, what are your lyrics about ?
Lies, fake, hope, doubts, dreams and mothers. The usual Spice world.

Last question : If Mr Amoot asked you to join Spiritual beggars on stage to sing on a few tracks, would you join him or not ?
You know what...I´m not gonna bother to answer that question.
