Hi Jacob, Butch left Barcode a few months ago. Did you discussed about the possibility that you could be the new singer of Barcode ?
Hey there! Well, we did for a very short time talked about me being the singer, but we ended up thinking that it was a bad idea. I should just concentrate on playing guitar and making songs in Barcode,

You have a lot of experience as a singer in Hatesphere and Allhellhuja, were you more involved than the other guys in the quest of the new singer for Barcode ?
We were all very much involved in finding a new singer. Everybody had to be satisfied. And we are now!

How did you find and select SS Graveyard ?
We tried out some like 5 different singers - all nice guys, but not able to do something that would fit our level...he he....
Then we went to a Misery Index and Fear Factory show here in Aarhus and met this drunk guy, and he said that he could sing so we tried
him out a couple of times and found out that he had a great voice and a very good sense for timing.
So we ended up with the drunk guy aka SS Graveyard. And well...the name was something we came up with a drunk night in the rehearsel room.
And it stayed like that ha ha!

You present a new singer on this new cd, did you take the risk or opportunity to change a little bit your style and your music, or is "Ahead of the game" the logic next step for Barcode ?
Yes, I think that this album is the next logic step in the history of Barcode. Well, as allways when a band puts out a new album, the band thinks that it is the best they ever did.
And in this case it is the same old story. I think that "Ahead of the Game" is a damn good album! Not that I didn´t liked "Showdown" or "Hardcore" or any of the other releases, but "Ahead of the Game" is just really new and fresh to me.

On the new album there is more rock and punkrock somehow. It is still hardcore, but just with a twist of something new. NO metalcore. On "Showdown" we really spend alot of time on getting everything fuckin´ tight. This tíme we focused more on 1 good take with lots of balls and attitude. Energy! It was also easier to get energy into the songs this time because the songs were really new to us all. We did the 8 of the 13 songs in a really short period of time -very fast. Our drummer and me put it all together really fast this time. Good teamwork. And I guess that we became better songwriters during the years too.

I know you wrote all the music for "hardcore", the split "with Ciaff" and "Showdown". Did you wrote once again evrything on this new cd ?If yes, when do you find the time to write the music with all the different activities you have ?
Yes – it´s my fault that it sounds the way it sounds ha ha…
Time is the enemy ha ha! Well, I like what I do so I make sure that I have time for making music. That´s it I guess. But making music for Barcode is quite a fast process. When I first have opened up the bag with riffs, they just keep on coming to me.
The other guys play what I tell them to play ha ha!

You joined Barcode at the end of 98 and you joined Hatesphere early 1997. In 98 which of these bands was your priority ?
You really did your research huh? Cool. Well at that point more stuff happened to Barcode. So that was kind of my priority nr. 1. Tours with Madball and Skarhead came up in 1999, so cool stuff was happening. But I also knew that HateSphere could have a good future if I would work hard for it.

, is the answer to the previous question the same ? Which band is your priority ?
He he…both are…

Are your a metal guy playing hardcore with Barcode or are you an hardcore kid singing in a metal band with Hatesphere ?
I am more the metal head playing guitar in Barcode.
I don´t listen to much Hardcore. Well, I do, but only the few bands that I like. Like Madball, Sick Of It All and Terror.

As a metal addict, what are your all time favorite albums and the best release you heard in 2006 ?
Suffocation.

As a hardcore guy, what are your all time favorite albums and the best release you heard in 2006 ?
Death to Tyrants with Sick Of It All.

What are the differences between your involvment in both bands (regarding songwriting, studio recordings, lyrics etc ) ?
In Barcode I write all songs, but no lyrics.
In HateSphere I only make a few riffs for each album and write some of the lyrics.
But I am always a part of the arrangements of the songs. And specially the production of the albums. The last thing counts for both bands.

The danish scene is a new trend in the metal scene, you'll tour in Europe soon with other danish bands, the name of the tour is "Fuck Scandinavian, this is Danemark !". What's the fuck with this title and Scandinavia ?
Don´t know really… our booker wrote it. I think it sucks.
The tour is called Danish Dynamite Tour 2006.

There are plenty of bands in Danemark but not a lot of record company as Diehard disapeared and Mighty Music is not really active, how do yo explain that ?
Actually Mighty Music just restarted again. They will put out some new releases with Compos Mentis and Spectral Mortuary. And then they will release som Panzerchrist and Raunchy.

Talking about Diehard, is there any chance to see reissues of your first 3 cds as It is really difficult to find them today ? I'm looking for the first one ;-)
I don´t think so.
But I can send you the first one if you want. It´s not really good though…

Some words about your other band Allhellhuja which released its new album recently, how would you present this new cd ?
I thought this was a Barcode interview…he he…
I think the new album is a good rock album. I like it!

You're trying to sing on this release ... are you happy with the result ?
Yeah I TRIED to sing ha ha! I think it came out pretty good. I am not a great singer.
I just did what I could do with my throat.

I've seen some pictures of the first Allhehuja video with nice chicks... hehe, any story about this video ?
Oh yes! Those girls looks damn hot! You have to ask Stefano about what is going on with that video.

I've seen that Paris is one of the 3 places where you prefer to be on stage. Is this still true ? When will you come with Barcore ?
Yes it is. I love the city. And the audience in Paris is always good for us there. Love it! I hope we will come with Barcode in April. Not sure yet. We are working on a tour right now.

Last question : you did some guest vocals on the new EYELESS cd 'The game of fear' which will be released at the begining of 2007 via Season Of Mist. How did you get in touch with the band ? Any story about this feature ?
I met Fred several times. And he asked me if I wanted to do some guest vocals.
They were recording at Tues studio – and I live in the neighbourhood so it was easy for me to go there. And Eyeless is a good band. Lots of talent!

What is your opinoin about this cd and your opinion about french bands in general ?
As just said: Eyeless are a good band. But I haven´t the whole CD for a while. So it is a bit far away in my memory right now
My 2 favourite French bands are Massacra and Gojira.
I think that ''Signs of the Decline'' is one of the albums that I heard the most. I had it on cassette tape before I finally got it on CD.
And then I love the From Mars to Sirius album too! That CD is fuckin´ unique.
Great guys too – just toured with them – love them!

Thanks a lot for your time Jacob !!!
Thank you too!!!
