"This is a courtesy statement to all my fans due to the surprising comments by ATHEIST concerning my absence on the new album.
"I would like to clarify that I was not dismissed from ATHEIST. I left on good terms and made a courtesy call to Steve Flynn [drums] ahead of time stating that my heart was not into the music and that I couldn't be a part of something that I just didn't feel right about.
"Also, I would like to make clear that the business logistics where never clear nor concrete from the word go in regards to this new album.
"This is a statement strictly for my fans so you know the truth and you hear my personal voice in this matter.
"I wish ATHEIST the best.
"I have always been a huge fan of the ATHEIST legacy and music and them saying that I just rode on the coattails of [late ATHEIST bassist] Roger Patterson left me very insulted and hurt by people who I considered friends.
"I have always respected and given credit to Roger and may he continue to rest in peace. He was not only a solid bass player but my friend as well.
"For the record, I do music for music. I embrace all styles of music and I play all styles of music. Anyone who knows me knows that I enjoy anything that is good music.
"I am Tony Choy and I play bass like Tony Choy and I consider all musicians to be good musicians. As long as you have passion towards your music, regardless of style, then you are truly a good musician.
"I am not in this industry to be competitive. Like my father always says, 'Tony, there is always somebody better out there.' So I just seek to be original.
"I thank you all for always supporting me. Without the fans, we are nothing.
"I would like announce that I have my first official project called SYNCHRONICITY. The album should be done by the end of August we are looking for an october release. My fellow band members are guitarist Santiago Dobles from AGHORA, drummer Matt Thompson from KING DIAMOND and AGHORA, myself on bass, Arbise 'Motif' Gonzales on keys and programming, and some surprising guest artists.
"This is a metal album with many elements of all styles and our roots. It is a real fusion album loaded with 100% heavy metal balls , groove and tech.
"The band is managed my great friend and fellow musician Frank Watkins and Back From The Dead Productions.
"You will soon see us on tour to support our new release coming soon!"

Take it from the guy IN the band and the 20+ year friend of Tony. You're so far off base it's not funny, and your agenda is painfully clear. Again, read my statement above. Whatever you think you know I assure you it's not accurate. We will issue a joint statement soon. It's a non issue. And don't ever pretend to understand what went down back in the day. There are only a handful that can and that know - Tony is one. All's well. Again, it's just music - not life and death.
Steve Flynn
wow Steve not an issue? really? Dude Kelly stuck his foot in his mouth. I am glad all of a sudden its not "accurate".
Steve I have known Tony for 17 years and i have been working with him DAILY for more than 365 days. Tony is one of my closest friends and brothers. I am glad you think can "tell" me what to do or say. But dude if anyone needs a reality "pill" its you my bro. Last I checked you do not live in Miami and see Tony almost Daily... I know exactly what is going on and why Tony is NOT on your upcoming album. As for agendas I am simply sticking up for my brother and band mate. You should have NEVER allowed Kelly to say the shit he did. Who do you think tony went to when he read the Bullshit Kelly Posted? You? As for agenda there is no agenda steve. Tony and I have been writing and album for a while now its no "secret" The people that know us know its being done. Its not an "Agenda" and no we don't need to ride the coat tails of you or atheist. You are good bro BUT you are not that good.
Peace
Santiago Dobles

trouvé sur un forum, un début d'explication (une histoire d'argent et de projets séparés, du classique quoi...)
Tony has his own Metal band and Album he has been working on for the last year. Doing Atheist actually would have gotten in the way of his real endeavors at the moment. He tried to work with them & offered to record his bass tracks at his own studio. But instead they wanted him up in GA for tracking all the bass tracks in one day. Logistically it was not in his interest to travel nor go there and take time out of his real band and his current work. He got them a VERY suitable replacement by recommending to Atheist his friend Alan Goldstein of Aghora. Atheist basically also wanted to "shaft" alan aswell no money and no expenses covered for travel to record all bass tracks in one day. Again the Logistics SUCKED. What atheist did above is speak "one" side of the coin. There is more to the story folks. As for tony not being a metal head...you are right he is more than that. As for Tony not being roger your right he is more than that. God Bless Roger but Tony is Tony. He does ALL styles of music and is not just a bassist. One can not fault a guy for being a professional and making money playing his instrument. He has played in over 28 albums in all genres of music on bass. So how is he a "flake"? Anyhow I know for a fact he wishes atheist the best and he has nothing but good things to say about Roger. What Atheist did above was simply create an un needed Fued. As for Metal.....if you think Tony is not METAL enough for you you need to get your heads out of your asses and realize he wrote even some of the heavy guitar riffs in the old cynic demos. He was the master mond behind "elements" aswell. So lets get one thing straight he is very metal and more than that aswell.
You will understand why he did not do atheist when you see what Tony is up to now.
