There is no hell. there is only France!
Current mood: drained
Good old Frank Zappa was (again) absolutely right with this statement... HELLFEST in Clisson. And it started already with hell for me. Missed my connecting flight in Paris. So Air France put me in the TGV (that is the French version of the Japanese Bullet Train). Runs with ca 300 km per hour. Besides the non smoking policy a great train. Finally arrived in Nantes around midnite. Shuttle was already waiting and dropped me off at our hotel. Hotel? Rooms had the size and charme of prison cells... Bumped into MISERY INDEX and the guys from DEW-SCENTED. All covered in mud and then they started telling me horror stories about their day at HELLFEST Festival. DEW-SCENTED didn´t even play as the stage was not ready when the festival started. A power generator went up in flames and the plastic covers that shield the stage (normally) were not fully covering the stage!!!! Seemed like the festival was absolutely not prepared for bad weather. FRENCH ORGANISATION...KORN cancelled their show... Some of the IMMORTAL guys and crew were also stuck in Paris and had to stay overnight in Paris.
On Saturday everybody arrived finally and on to the festival. What a MUDFEST... And then finally: the return of the mighty IMMORTAL. Intro starts, the band segues into the first song and the generator tripped. NO POWER on stage at all! Another try. The song starts. BANG. No power again. The Band was pissed off, I can tell you. We gave it another try. And AGAIN! The power went off for the third time. Hectic and confusion off stage near the generator. We will give it another try, so stay calm guys. The band was even more fuming and who can blame them. Okay, we try one more time. The band started again with THE SUN NEVER RISES and: the power stayed on. And they turned the anger and frustration into so much energy and strength on stage that we would have even conquered a WWII T34 tank with a rubber knife only. The cowd went berserk...Kudos to them!!!
Stay tuned for the Sunday report featuring DARK TRANQUILLITY.

And when you go kacka they make u stand up aka there is no hell there is only france part 2
HELLFEST part 2. the Sunday... when you play festivals with acts like SLAYER, MEGADEATH, DREAM THEATER, BLIND GUARDIAN etc etc u should expect toilets backstage...but not even porta cabins until sunday. so CHILDREN OF BODOM cut a hole into one of those 70s looking plastic chairs (big enough that you wouldn´t cut your balls at the sharp plastic) and used LE CHAIR as a toilet. BRILLIANT. the fridges for the dressing rooms were standing around also until on sunday somebody had the amazing idea to put them into the dressing rooms. DARK TRANQUILLITY played a great show in the sunshine . The kids loved it. All merch sold out at the end of the night. Merci bien.
