Voivodian fellows:
Eric is now walking ! He will spend the winter at his parent's
house in Ontario. He will be back in Montreal for the spring and
then we will start jamming again...at last !!!
I am putting the final touch to the concept of the next album,
which will be the conclusion of the Voivod quest for ultimate
knowledge. It is the 7th and final chapter and the music is all
written. We made a selection of 16 songs for the live album and
Piggy and I started the mixing process. Here's the listing :

26 December - Eric is out from the Hospital ... Last news...
Yes Right, Eric is now out from his hospital. Here are the last news from Holiday :
"Eric, at about 11 am
Eastern Standard time, on December 10, 1998, was finally released
from the hospital!!! After four months and six days, I would say
it is about freakin' time! We did finally found out what was
wrong with his right foot, though. THE STUPID DOCTORS FINALLY
X-RAYED IT AND FOUND OUT IT WAS BROKEN. DUH. Eric's been hobbling
along all of this time on a broken foot. And after 4 months in
the hospital, they figure it out the day before he leaves. That's
the Canadian health care system for ya, I guess. (Sing along with
me...Yes, I am proud to be an American, where the health care's
never free, but when I get in an accident, they'll x-ray my foot
for me....) Cute, huh? I just made it up. I would rather be
broke, thank you. And at least I won't get taxed to death.
Sheesh.
Anyway, Eric is very happy to be going home, although it is only
to his parents home for now. But of course, there are bonuses
when it comes to staying at your parents house...good home cooked
food (his mother, and father, for that matter, are both great
cooks) and FREE RENT! He knows he still has a way to go, yet, but
his spitits are great and he's progressing very quickly. I think
it won't be too long before he's back haunting Montreal. He's
ahead of schedule so far, so there ya go! Take heart in that!
Again, however, I want to thank all of you for your support
during this time. It's been felt and appreciated. This is going
to be my last update before Christmas, so Eric and I hope you
have a great holiday season (hey...no name jokes...I am being
serious here) and a happy New Year! Shalom!"

8 December - E-Force will be out of the hospital in TEN DAYS!!!!!
Yes what you read is true, in one week Eric will be out of his hospital...what a great news no ? It is Holiday, his girlfriend who tell this incredible information to me.

Here are the news from Holiday
"Weeeellll, folks, I have two
things to say today! And as you will see, this is why I put this
new section up top!!! One, Eric is ROCKING AND ROLLING. He is
walking so much smoother, and is able to do just about all of
your average everyday normal activities. Slowly, and sometimes
painfully, but he can do them. I was with him all weekend at his
parents house and WOW! He is slowly walking up and down stairs,
he was getting out of bed by himself, and he was OUT of bed more
than he was in bed. We got to go outside and enjoy the 60 degree
weather on Saturday. Granted, he's still got a long ways to go,
but this was the first time that I could really see my Eric
coming back to us. He's getting to be like a pesky three year
old!!! We have to watch him really carefully, of course, to make
sure he doesn't fall, but sometimes he's too fast for us!!!! And
now for the really good newz!!! (drum roll please)
ERIC LEAVES THE HOSPITAL FINALLY ON DEC.17th
He will be returning to his parents to finish his outpatient
rehab, but he will be home in time for Christmas. I am going to
see him the weekend before to celebrate my birthday (December
13)with him. This is going to be a great birthday and Christmas
present for me, and for once I don't mind getting a combination
birthday/Christmas present! YEA!!!! We are hoping to have him
home here with me in Montreal in time for his birthday February
13."

15 November - A message from Holiday E-Force's Girlfriend
"Eric just started rehab
yesterday. I don't have the address, although if you send mail to
the old one, it will still get to him. He is up walking a bit
with a walker...40-50 feet at a time, not far, but it's a
definite start. He's been a real trooper, and will be home at his
parents hopefully in time for Christmas, then he will be back in
Montreal in early spring after all of his physical therapy that
he has to do on an outpatient basis is done.
I just wanted to thank you personally for all of the thoughts and
prayers. It has been a really rough couple of months for all of
us and it's little things like that that have really pulled me,
Michel and Piggy and Eric through all of this! So take care, and
thanks a million. I really appreciate it."

5 November - The last News from AWAY... plus some words from Eric "E-Force"...
"To all Voivodian freaks:
Eric is recovering very fast and we can finally see the sun at
the end of the black hole. He will be in rehab until mid-december
and then he will spend the winter at his parent's house in
Ontario. He will be back in Montreal for the spring and then we
will start jamming again...at last !!!
Most of the next album was written prior to the accident so it
won't be too long before we put the 7th chapter of the Voivod
story out and onto the racks. Meanwhile, we are trying to keep
busy so Eric is writing lyrics at the hospital and Piggy and I
started mixing the live album which will consist of 3 shows :
CBGB's NYC, Holland Dynamo Festival and an outdoor show in the
Czech Republic.
All of this has been quite a blow to our career but we will come
out of it stronger than before, and of course we will turn this
bad luck into total victory by recording the best Voivod album of
all time. I want to thank the hundreds of people who sent their
good words via the web-site and the P.O. box."

kicking. I can't move much, but I am not paralyzed, and I am
still going through a lot mentally and physically to get back to
where I need to be. I'd really like to thank all of the Voivod

Riffmaster-P, our management, and all of the nurses and doctors

1 october 1998 - Last news
On The VOIVOD front, singer Eric Forest "has been getting much, much better over the last little while," drummer Away stated recently. He's started physiotherapy and is starting to walk again. He'll be in hospital in Chatham until the end of November, then he's going to his parents' place for a while to rest, and should be back in Montreal by Christmas. His brain is intact,he should be walking perfectly and performing as usual, so we'll be recording a new album early next year. The only thing Eric won't be able to do is bungee jumping, the doctor said." Voivod suffered a severe accident on the German autobahn that left Forrest with spinal injuries.
The band's latest release, Kronik, it was meant as a stopgap between albums, to give the hard core fans some of the material that Voivod had "rotting in the vaults", as Away puts it. "The next studio album will come out later than expected, so we'll probably put out a full live album in the meantime. We have gigs recorded from the Dynamo, CBGB's, and a festival in the Czech Republic from the last tour, so we'll be mixing that down soon. We wrote twelve new songs before we went on this last European tour, so while Eric is recovering he can work on lyrics and basslines and stuff. It's going to go quicker than we thought it would. I'm also workng on a CD Rom, which will tell the story of the band and the story of the Voivod character, and include all the artwork, videos and 3-D animation that I do. We even have footage of the trashed van. We might putit out with the live album as a double CD set. Time will tell exactly what we'll be able to do".

The last news are from my friend Stephane Ducasse (The Voivod Québec Site) . He have talk with Away at the Slayer / Fear Factory Show in Montreal. Away just tell him that Voivod will wait after Eric back, and will take this time to finish the Live album and the CD-Rom. So all right, Voivod isn't dead and will come back in a year or so...

"He is in pain still and will be for awhile as his hip is
broken and it has to heal by itself. He is sore from all the
surgery and has been in bed along time so he is getting bed sores
but compared to being dead he is fine!!
He will have to learn to walk a little different from before but
only time will tell how affected he will be from the accident, if
he will be different from his old self. "

I just thank all the people who
have let a message here. Voivod is coming back in Canada in a few
days.
Voivod have a really important problem with touring....it is a
malediction. Before the 4 august accident, Voivod had seven
differents vehicles on the last Negatron tour in the USA in 1996,
and one Van have burn..
