band1.4. Langevin, D'Amour, Belanger... these name sound really from France ...? except Eric's name

Yes, of course the names are French, but Voivod isn't a French band. Voivod is from Québec (a part of East Cost of the Canada), from an industrial town called Joncquière and so the name from the members are French. Eric is coming from Toronto. Away says in a interview that "Voivod sing in English, but togheter we speak in French".

1.5. Any other Members in these band ?

Real members ??? i can't say this, but in 1991, when Blacky quit Voivod, the rest of the band have looked for a new member. Two guys play so bass with Voivod :
- Pierre Saint Jean plays bass on The Outer Limits as a special studio session bass and make some live shows with the band.
- Gilles Briseboix plays bass with the band on the Outer Limits Tour in Europe.

1.6. And special guest on album ?

Yes some special guest :
The first is Jim G. Thirlwell from the band Foetus. He sings and put his special FX on D.N.A. from Negatron. The Lyrics are from Jim
The second is Jason Newsted from a unknown band calling Metallica. He doesn't play on a Voivod album but he has written a title with Michel and Denis. The title is M-Body and you can find it on the Phobos album. The lyrics of this title are from Jason.

1.7. Some other people have helped the band in the past ..

Yes of course, here they are ...
Ivan Dorochuck from Men without Hat helped Snake and Away for the lyrics on the albums Phobos (the title The Tower), Negatron (the title Nanoman),. He played some keyboard on the title 'The Outcast' from Angel Rat.
Kiisti Matsuo help Away for the lyrics on the albums Negatron (the title Negatron), on The Outer Limits, Angel Rat, and Nothingface (for all the titles, he was a sort of 'Lyrical Navigator')
Karin Crisis help Away and Eric for the lyrics on the album Phobos (the title Forlorn)
Ray Coburn plays keyboards on the Angel Rat.

that' all that I know about the special appearances or special guests or help...if you have something else about this mail me....

2.4. What album should I start with if I'm new with Voivod ?

In my opinion, you should start with their best album "Dimension Hatross", but a lot of people found it really difficult to understand....so okay start with "Phobos" it the last real album, and it give you a good idea of what they've already done and where they are going

2.5. Who writes the music/lyrics?
The lyrics are now written by Away with the help of Eric and special guest as Ivan Dorochuck or Kiisti Matsuo. In the past Snake wrote the lyrics with the help of Away

Piggy, the guitarist, writes the music .

2.6. What is the relation between Voivod and ....

-Jason Newsted : Jason is a friend of Away and Piggy, he had always said that Voivod is a great band. So Away, Piggy and Jason (in the past with Snake) have made some private jams....M-Body is one of this jams title.
- Ivan Dorochuck : Ivan is a member of the band Man without Hats, he help Away for the lyrics of some title ( Nanoman & The Tower) and play keyboards on Angel Rat (The Outcast). He is a friend of Away. Away play drums on the album Sideways from Men Without Hats.
- Jim G. Thirlwell from the band Foetus (can I say that Foetus is a band ??? no Jim is Foetus and Foetus is Jim), well Jim sing on one title from Negatron, it is D.N.A. (Don't No Anything), the lyrics of this song are from him. An other thing about Jim is that he has made a remix for the collection called Kronik, it is the remix of Forlorn. Away play on a couple of Foetus album called Steroid Maximus.

3.3. Any problem with the technical titles from Dimension Hatröss or Nothingface live ?

No for the band any problems, but for the guys who haven't listen to Voivod it is really difficult to understand this way of playing music live....
So Voivod made an album for the live in 1991 it is Angel Rat, but some labels problems made angel rat a born dead album.
Now Voivod play a lot of recent titles live, and a lot of very old stuff too (songs from War & Pain like Nuclear War or Voivod)

3.4. And the Voivod Malediction...

Yeah there is a malediction with voivod and touring.....
In August 1997, the band was touring in Europe and they made a accident with the bus, Eric got a lot of problem and we wish him a lot of luck for the future.
In 1996, Voivod made the Negatron tour in the USA , but the van had burned, the band used 7 different vehicles on this tour. Away said in an interview 'We're Survivors'.
From 1987 to 1993, Voivod had never play live in Europe only because of fucking labels problems both with Noise and MCA.
