Interview du batteur de ALLHELLUJA pour la sortie de leur nouvel album

In 2007, Scarlet re-released a boxset with "Inferno Museum' and 'Pain Is The Game" was it to turn a chapter of Allhelluja's life or was it due to huge demand ?
It was an idea in order to offer to our listeners the chance to buy both CDs with a better price and a cool packaging!

Coming back to the first Incarnation of Allhelluja, what are your biggest satisfaction... and the biggest disapointment too ?
There're no disappointments, we're free to run as musicians and this is the most important thing. The biggest satisfaction is to get a lot of positive feedback from wellknown musicians around the world, people not forced to judge your music, people that play music every day and listen tyo music for his own pleasure !

Could you summarize the changes in the line-up and especially the reasons of these changes ?
Big changes in life are necessary to become stronger and stronger. Well, we decided to stop with our old guitarist, he was no more into the mood in order to write new songs and bring new ideas to the band. And we decided to stop also with Jacob in order to respect both priorities. A friendly and common decision. A new amazing guitarist, Tommy Massara (also guitarist in EXTREMA), joined the band and two great friends of mine Trevor from SADIST and GL from EXTREMA were ready to sing the new songs and bring an incredible talent and higher impact and professional level to the band. Together with the bass player Roberto, i wrote all the new songs playing also some guitars. We did a pre-production of 70 minutes, than Tommy and the other guys joined the band. After recording and producing drums and bass we worked on the new guitars and than the vocals... And after 3 years here is ALLHELLUJA again with the best album i ever dream about: 'Breath Your Soul'!!!

Should we consider Allhelluja as a brand new band or is Allhelluja Mark 2 the continuation of what you did before?
We never stopped, so it's the continuation of what we did before !

You now have 2 singers Trevor (Sadist) and GL Perotti (Extrema). How did you get this idea to share the microphone with 2 guys ?
I just followed my instinct. Bofore asking to Trevor and GL to join ALLHELLUJA I already recorded the vocal lines for Jacob. So it was easy to check together the result. It was simply amazing and so we decided to go on with two great singers! Trevor is an old friend of mine and he is a fantastic person, not only a great singer! When i asked to join in he said immediately ok. He did an amazing work together with one of the best singer i know, GL from Extrema one of the most important and heaviest Italian Metal band. Together they are simply incredible and with them ALLHELLUJA can reach a wider range of solution and dinamics. Allhelluja is a band that mix together Death n Roll, Stoner-Doom and some Horror stuff! A mix of Entombed, Carcass, Black Sabbath, Dawn, Corrosion Of Conformity, Danzig, Motorhead, The Cult, Clutch, Mastodon, Slipknot and Kyuss! Now we can say that we have a killer album done and the 60 minutes of music in it is the most intense we did until now!"

New band members means new influence. What are your new influences, may they be musical or not (novels, comics, movies, etc.) ?
I'm really into horror movies and i think this is a big influence for Allhelluja, especially the new album. Thare a lot of atmospheres in the new songs that should remind the classic soundtrack approach.

Let's talk about the new release "Breath your soul". Could you please tell us more about the writing and recording session of this new cd ?
We reached a new level of heavyness, groove and impact. Everything is amplified, everything is bigger than before. Just listen to the guitars! Our sound is now a real bulldozer a wall of sound! We have much more dynamics with amazing guitar solos and different ways to express our attitude. We are still dirty and nasty as the stoner-school is and wants to be but now everything is mixed with a higher dose of technique. 'Breath Your Soul' is not just the sum of our previous releases is something more. It's more mature and various with a lot of surprises inside! We've found a real dimension betwen all our influences. I think that with this new album the ALLHELLUJA sound is set and ready to be improved in the future. You can never know what will happen but i can easily say that now i can hear all the stuff i want to hear, the tension is very high, in the new songs there are lots of atmosphere, doom and gloomy breaks, groovy and deadly riffing! headbanging comes so easy... hahaha! Regarding the 3 cover songs featured in 'Breath Your Soul'... It was my idea. It started like bonus songs for a limited edition. Than we felt that it's better to give to the listeners 60 minutes with 3 cover songs instead of 50 minutes without them. Cds price everywhere is too high, so let's go with a standard version with 15 songs and 60 minutes of music. So everybody can listen to what we did. King Crimson '21'st Century Schizoid Man' is THE song. After 40 years is 'avantgarde'! Link together Black Sabbath 'Into The Void' and Goblin 'Profondo Rosso/Deep Red' was a sort of 'paranoia' i had since the teen-age years, hahaha! I always thought these two songs are sharing some feelings and vibrations. And now i fanally had my dream comes true. A song starting from 'Into The Void' flowing into 'Profondo Rosso'! I really hope this will be a great surprise for everybody! What can i say about Goblin and Dario Argento? I love them! I'm into horror movies and soundtracks and 'Profondo Rosso' is a masterpiece!" "

What is the meaning of the album title ?
My lyrics are full of symbols, images, metaphores and questions without answers. They are deep and obscure, they are not blessed by the sun... hahaha! The meaning of the title? Go deeply into yourself and breath everything, the good and... the bad. The lights and the shadows. Everyone smile with a face and you never know what there's behind. It's the step after to the usual 'put yourself in front of a mirror'...

Talking about influences, I really had the feeling the the first song "Face to face with the devil" really songs like ... Treponem Pal ! What is your opinion about that ?
I really don't know what to say! I used to listened to some old Treponem Pal stuff but unfortunately i didn't get the chance to listen to the new stuff. Treponem Pal is a great band and if you think 'Face To Face With the Devil' has a common feeling it's cool for me !

Do you know some other french bands?
No Return, Lyzanxia, Gojira, Phaze I, Misanthrope, Dagoba, Ethersens, Scarve, Anorexia Nervosa, Trust...

Do you have some plans in short /long term?
"Make the best promotion possible!"
