remember01.jpg (15014 octets)Can you briefly introduce the band to our readers?
We are four members in „Never Face Defeat": My name is Carsten (30) and I am the bass-player. Then we have Karl (27) on guitar, Ronny (24) on drums and last but not least Patrick (26) who is taking care of the vocal duties.

There are a lot of Metal influences in the sound of your release. Do you feel close to the Metal scene?
Me and two other band members are coming from the Metal scene and I was a founding member of the German Black/Trash-Metal band „Desaster". So our roots are lying within the Metal scene. Through the years after getting involved into HC we have grown out of it. But we are undeniably rooted in the Metal scene what is in a way reflected through our music. Today we do not feel like Metalheads any more. We are true HC-kids. But we are still a bit interested in what is going on in the Metal-scene and we still have a lot of respect for all the true Metal bands that never sold out.

Could you give us more informations about the lyrics of this EP? Why is there a song in Spanish for a German band?
The lyrics are dealing with personal stuff, with things that have an effect on our personal lives. They do not tell any certain stories, but are more held generally or even a bit abstract and pictorial. So it is more easy for the listeners to identify themselves with our lyrics. Everybody who is into our way of thinking and the way we are living HC can take something out of them for his own life. According to the whole concept of the CD they are dealing with values that still have a real importance like friendship, humanity or cohesion.
The Spanish song is a tribute to the roots of our singer Patrick. His mother is from Andorra and all her relatives are still living there.

How is the Hardcore scene in Germany? Is it growing again?
The scene has changed a lot within the last nine years since I am involved into HC. At that time we had a real big scene, but there was some kind of a down during the last years. Nevertheless the scene was still alive and the true people who remained kept on working which made the labels, the bands and everything grow. Today these people can harvest their seeds, because we have a bigger and stronger scene again.

NFD84.jpg (57445 octets)What are your main influences?
We actually have a wide variety of influences. As I told you before most of us are rooted in the Metal scene. One of us was a punk what eventually also exerts a slight influence. Since we got involved into HC we never limited ourselves to a specific style, because HC has always meant more to us than just another form of music. It is what we believe in and what we are living every day. We certainly have our preferences, but we listened to Old School as well as New School. We like the NY-Style as well as Metal-Core. We are influenced by all of that what finally is reflected in our music.

Is there any tour planned in the near future? How much is it important to you to play your music on stage?
After the release of our MCD we have recently finished a successful tour which took us to Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Now there are interests for another short tour through Poland and also the people from the Baltic States want to see us back in 2004. We are also spending some thoughts on going to England with our homies from „Age Of Disgrace" and we also would like to tour Italy and Spain in the near future. But there is nothing settled so far. Besides the single shows a short weekend-trip to France is booked which also includes the appearance at the „BetiZFest" in Cambrai. We have to see what else will be realisable in the future.
If you do not want to play live, there is no need to form a band. That would be senseless. We have fun and it also gives us the possibility to spread our word. We could also spread the word by selling our CD, but who would buy it if we would not play the songs in front of an audience? So playing our music on stage is very important for us and it makes us feel alive.

There is a Good Night, White Pride logo on your CD, can you give us more explanation about this logo ?
It is an organisation from Eastern Germany. It was brought to life, because more and more fascists seem to explore the HC-scene and try to invade it. I never witnessed this problem myself. I think it is more a problem of the eastern part of our country. But the organisation is worth supporting in any way. HC is about an open mind and fascist scum should not be tolerated, whether inside or outside the HC-scene.

Do you ever heard some French Hardcore bands? Is there a united European scene?
Of course France brought up a lot of good HC-bands like „Drowning", „L´Esprit Du Clan", „Es La Guerilla", „Right For Life" and many others. My favourite Frensh bands are „Kickback" and „Stormcore".
I think you can find a local scene everywhere. Some are bigger than others, but everywhere there is a scene. Working on a DIY-level makes it hard to give support to other countries and supporting your local scene has importance in the first lane. But keeping your local scene alive and growing makes it also possible to work with and to support foreign scenes. That is what unites the local scenes and although it sometimes does not seem to be like that I nevertheless see a united European scene, just because the local scenes are kept alive.

You are members of MKHC? What is it? A label?
MK is the short form for the city we come from called Mülheim-Kärlich. MKHC stands for all our activities within the HC-scene. Besides NFD we and our crew-members are also putting up HC-shows and –festivals, we are doing a label and a distro/mailorder called „Lucifer´s Legions" and also an online-fanzine called „Now And Forever". With time MKHC has developed to a proper name and has become some kind of a roof for all the mentioned activities which you can find assembled on the internet under www.MKHC.de

What is your opinion about the war in Iraq and the position of France and Germany about this subject?
Now that the war is over there is still no logical reason for it´s beginning. It has had the same motive than any other war that has ever been forced upon: Increasing power. It was an injustice justified by fighting terrorism in the name of god. Fucked up bullshit.
France and Germany wanted to show that they are tough enough to go against the policy of the USA. But who believes what politics say? I always gave a fuck about their show. They are not only liars, but also fucking cowards. Although there is still no evidence to justify this war, no one cares about the injustice any longer. With the end of the war they started crawling into the US-Ass again knowing that Bush´s policy will never change. Everyone is always just out for his own advantage and when the next match is to play the game will repeat itself.

Any words message for our readers?
