Good Riddance est sans aucun doute un des meilleurs groupe de punk rock californien dans le veine de Bad Religion, vous ne les entendrewz pas sur Oui Fm ou sur Le Mouv, donc c'est du bon punk rock !

goodriddance4c5x.jpg (16667 octets)1. Can we come back to the early beginiong of your carrier first. Why did you have this need to create a punk rock bands ? Why this kind of music ? What is you musical background ?
I GREW up listening to the punk bands of the early 1980's like Bad Religion, Black Flag and others. I liked the anger and the energy of the music. I thought it was a cool way to express the anger we felt about the world we live in.

2. You relaease "Symptoms of a Leveling Spirit" in 2001 and then 2 other releases before the new one. Are you hyper active ??? Can't you live without writing music ?

Actually only one release since "Symptoms...," we released "Cover-Ups" on Lorelei records last year. Our latest FAT release will be out this month (May)

3. "Bound By Ties Of Blood And Affection" is your new release. I'm curious about it style: how different is this one than the previous?

This record, to me, sounds like classic California punk rock. It's got some melody but still tons of bite. I like the mix a little better than "Symptoms..." and I was dealing with a pretty gnarly break-up so that played into the songwriting a bit; I had some venting to do.

4. There is a nice donkey on the cover of your CD. What means the cover art of your last release ? Is there relations with the famous edonkey file sharing internet software ? What is your opinion about trading mp3s on the web around the globe ?
In America the two major political parties (democrats and republicans)   are represented by a donkey and an elephant-that's what the cover art is alluding to. I don't really have an opinion about trading mp3's.

5. How was the progression of your style during the years ? What are your objectives in the future ?

I think we've matured alot as a band and as individual songwriters; especially Luke. We're more confident in the studio and more willing to try new things. I don't see us stopping anytime soon even though our lives are changing as we grow older.

goodriddance4c7.jpg (14083 octets)6. Each time, you give a part of the Sales of your Cds to some non benefit orgaznizations. Could you tell us why ? Do you have others jobs than being in Good Riddance ?  Don't you need all this money for yourself ?
Well we feel like giving something back to organizations which we think are doing good works but recieving little or no funding from the government.
Unlike many European countries the U.S. has almost no funding for social programs so they need it more than we do. We all have jobs except for Luke who is a student.

7. What would be your reaction if a kid would told you "I can not understand your lyrics because I don't speak english, but Good Riddance is the best band ever" ? How important are the lyrics in Good Riddance ?
I feel that they are extremely important. It's the way I first related to bands. To me the lyrics are more important than the music as far as what
I like about a band. I understand that lots of people don't speak english but what can we do about it? Maybe someday all lyrics will be available in
every language.

8. Is any members of the band involved in other projects/bands?

Yes:David (drums) is playing in Paint It Black, Luke (guitar) sings and plays guitar in Coercion, and Chuck (bass) plays bass in I Want Out.

9. How do you feel being an american after this war in Irak and giving reply to questions for a french webmag named Violent Pacification ?

It's cool because I didn't support the war or anything this President does. It's scary being an American when the President has such a fucking hard-on for wars of agression. He's an idiot.I'm sorry that the rest of the world has to deal with him. There are lots of Americans who feel this way.

10. A last message for our readers ..
