1.For those who still don't know DISBELIEF, would you be nice enough to introduce your band with a short history ?disbeliefbb.jpg (13996 octets)
We just released our 5th CD, named "Spreading the Rage". The very first, self entitled, CD came out in 1997. We had a long Tour with Six Feet Under and played a lot Big Festivals. As we learned a lot, we worked out our style to be not confound with one of thousand Death Metal Bands, and recorded "Infected" in early 1998. After that we toured with Bolt Thrower and Crowbar did numberous headliner Shows, but ended up in some kind of quarrel in between ourselfes and with Business. We were paralysed and it took us two years to be cured. With a lot of energy, experience and anger, we recorded "Worst Enemy", wich was released in April 2001. This one killed everyone. We found our special style, our definition of  the hardes bonecrushing Music in the world. Not based on rabbit-fuckin high speed drums and corpsepaint, but on deadly-nice weired harmonies, killing grooves, Power and outrageous Vocals. After that "Shine" was released in 2002. We toured with Hypocrisy, Immortal, Kataklysm, Hate eternal, Bolt thrower. And now: we took ourselves some time to think about our strengths. The result is simply "Spreading the Rage". If you listen to that one, there will be no more questions.

2. You've successfuly released 3 cds in 3 years, so you're a really productive band. Do you have explanations about that ?
Yeah, that's right, we work pretty hard on our Music. It`s all we have, it`s all we can and all we love. There is no turning back into some kind of "normal life".

3. You have worked with Andy Classen again for the production of this new release. Did you try some new elements/ideas during the recording process ?
Sure! We love to be on unexplored ground. We did a lot of experiments on "Infected", like tribal Drums, Digeredoo, Accoustic Bass Guitar (in Orchestra called: Double Bass).  But we really didn`t have enough time for that. And it was to much. Now with "Spreading the Rage" we had enough time but experiments are well integrated into the Songs. That's how it should be and you have to listen to it very good. You will find some interisting things there. In some songs Karsten is working with clean Vocals and this gives a greater dimension in dynamics. He did a fuckin good job. We also have a piano wich picks up a nice melody and some interesting samples in it.

4. "Spreading the Rage" is your newest stuff. I'm curious about it style: how different is this one than the previous?
It is another really big step into our own style. All of our strength comes together on this album. We had more time for the song writing, more time in studio and the experience of quite a lot mistakes we did in the past. Everything comes onto the POINT, if you know what I mean.

5. There will be a Limited edtion 2-CD set with bonus CD of "Spreading the Rage". Can you tell us more about it ? Why did you decide to release a limited edition ?
After all it is the decision of our record company to do a limited edition. We would love to offer it to everyone, because ist has some really good stuff on it. Mainly it is a Videoclip from the Song "to the sky". Like on some of our press pictures, we were in mud all over. Diving, eating and rocking in a Pit that normally belongs to the wild boars. There are also some Computer Wallpapers and Pistueres of us an this bonus cd.

6. Disbelief is a death metal bands but with elements from bands like Neurosis, Morgoth or VoiVod. What is your opinion about these bands ? What are your other influences ?
You figured out the right bands, man!  We like them a lot! There are some more influences like the deftones, korn and tool but you better don`t write that, because death metal fans usually hate "new metal". I mean, we`re mixing it up with our roots of death metal and that is what makes the difference in the music of disbelief , compared to other bands. We, ourselves, wouldn`t limit us to just Death Metal. We love Death Metal and we have a lot of elements in our music, but there is much more in our music.

7. What are your views on current death metal revival "back from the 90s" (at least, that's what people use to call it)?
All of us are missing some really good new bands. There are a lot of technical seen good bands, but after all thery just do a copy-job from something that has been there before. And most of the revivals can go home, if you ask me.
There is no "art"  no "spirtit" in the music like it has been 10 or 15 years ago. But people like it,  the rivival-music sells pretty well. But for us, a main reason to do disbelief, is to create something new. Not to watch in the past to the left and to the right to see what others do, but to seek in the very inner of ourselves and then do the music. Its not easy and you will always hear influences, but in the right relation!

8. Which cds  do you consider as being cult or must have for you ?
disbefief.jpg (3656 octets)
Difficult question and I will mention some CDs everyone of us likes. We were very wide spread but not so tolerant. Sometimes even dogmatic. It`s always kind of funny when we are together, because there are huge differences in our tastes. But here some Bands everyone of us loves: Pantera, Korn, Bolt Thrower, Crowbar, Tool, Queens of the stone age, Metallica (THE OLD!), Slayer…………

9 . You will do an European tour with Death Angel in November 2003. Are you excited to be an opening band for this cult thrash metal band ?
Death Angel is a band all of us loved in times of ulta violence and act 3. They were pretty open in there definition of thrash metal. Now they are back and we cant wait to see them on the first day of tour. I think it is in Paris. DA fans also are more open minded so we think this might be the right crowd for us. And DA is a revival wich I am very thankful for.

10. Did you ever played in France ? Any great memories ?
We played in france for sometimes. We`ve been to lyon to Paris, Strassbourg etc. But I remember a gig in Paris. It was 1998 on the Six feet under Tour. We started our gig and the crowd was really really wild, like it is everywhere in france - great compliment! But then we had a very experimental song from "Infected", like I mentioned it is a experimental CD, and it had some calm clean parts in it. And suddenly everyone was feezed! Man! The crowd was going down from 210 km/h to 15 km/h and there was no chance to start them up again. They were totally consequent and I appreciate that very much. People were there to listen to Death Metal and and not to our ego-tripping Experiments. And that is something we learned since "Infected". You have to know the Stage you`re standing on. The people coming to a Death Metal concert want musical HELL. And that is what we will give them in November. We will give you HELL…a lttle bit different, but as you get used to the tortures given to you, people need some new "torturer".
Thank you wild french people! We can`t wait to see you on tour!
