11-05-2007: Devourment will not be playing Neurotic Deathfest.
Yesterday we've got the word, not from the organiser of the tour, but of a befriended UK promotor, that Devourment was send back to the United States after not having the proper work permit papers. In the world of organising tours in Europe with non-European bands it is common knowledge that when Entering the UK, either by train, boat or airplane, there are work permits needed. What happened this time around is that the tour organiser neglected the fact that proper work permit papers where needed and thus didn't apply for any. Work permits cost £250,- (aound €400,-) so maybe the cost issue was an issue, although this is nothing less than speculation from our side.
Fact was, is, and unfortunately will be, that Devourment has been send back to the United States, first to Chicago, and from there they went back to Dallas. In the meantime the band would search for reasonable flights to not miss any shows on this tour, or at least as little as possible. However, they apparantly found a flight to Frankfurt this Sunday, meaning that their whole Neurotic Deathfest appearance was canceled. After asking about this situation over and over again we finally received a message, around 3:00 AM (14 hours before our festival opens it's doors), stating the aforementioned. Even though all this is completely beyond the control of the organisation of the Neurotic Deathfest, we still like to sincerely apologise for the fact that Devourment will not participate this year. We also like to apologise for the fact that we have failed to find any replacement for Devourment on this short notice. With the aforementioned explanation we hope everybody will understand and accept our situation. Obviously we're still in to have a great time on the Neurotic Deathfest, and we sure hope you are too! We have a truckload of great bands playing, and they deserve all of your undivided support!
Fucking hell, let's make Eindhoven bleed all over this!
